If you were in the idea of building a DEX aggregator with the help of a 1inch exchange clone, you’ll likely have a doubt about whether you can make the solution apt with new types of tokens or connect to different blockchains.

The answer is yes, but it’s not that simple.

    Let’s explain.

1inch was made to find the best prices on different DEXs, mainly on Ethereum. But now, there are more than just ERC-20 tokens. Standards like BEP-20, SPL (Solana), and ERC-404 tokens are becoming popular. As of the first part of 2025, more than 15% of DeFi trading is on blockchains that are not like Ethereum, and that amount is increasing.

If you want to build an aggregator with a 1inch exchange clone, the standard setup usually works with Ethereum-like blockchains such as Ethereum, BNB Chain, Polygon, and Arbitrum. However, if you want to add new blockchains like Solana or Layer-2s such as Base or zkSync, you’ll need to take additional steps. This includes building routing across different blockchains, supporting special connections, and making it compatible with bridges.

To support new token types, your system needs to deal with different token information formats, transaction structures, and possibly different fee structures.

The difficult part is changing how data moves. You’re essentially redesigning how the main system connects to various systems.

Therefore, making changes is definitely possible. However, it requires effort. If you truly want to be prepared for what’s coming, create your copy with a design that allows for easy updates from the beginning. You can hire a development firm to simplify this process.
